Hakeem Yaseen urges postponement of smart meter installation and demands free power supply for poor consumers

Srinagar, May 29: Chairman of the People’s Democratic Front (PDF) and former minister Hakeem Muhammad Yaseen on Sunday urged the government to provide free electricity to consumers, especially those living below the poverty line and middle-class families .
Stating that the installation of smart meters has created a wave of concern among the people of Jammu and Kashmir, he said that 30 years of unrest followed by lockdowns following COVID-19 for about 3 years, left the people bankrupt, seriously affecting their financial situation and livelihood.
He said the people of Jammu and Kashmir desperately need adequate price support from the government for their survival and livelihood.
According to the party statement, addressing several deputies from Khansahib and Budgam regions, who on Sunday called him Hakeem Yaseen, while agreeing that ordinary people of Jammu and Kashmir were concerned about the installation of meters smart.
He assured them that their real grievances in this regard would be seriously brought to the attention of higher authorities for redress.
