The BJP has blasted the Rajasthan government led by Ashok Gehlot over an order issued by Jodhpur discom for uninterrupted power supply during Ramzan in predominantly Muslim areas.
Jodhpur discom ordered uninterrupted power supply in predominantly Muslim areas to avoid problems for those fasting in summer during Ramzan.
A copy of the order issued by Jodhpur discom was marked to Divisional Chief Engineers of Jodhpur, Barmer and Bikaner discom. Later, after social media backlash, Jodhpur discom amended their previous order, mentioning various festivals that month.
“The Congress government of Rajasthan is indulging in a policy of appeasement. Where was the need to mention Ramzan? Do they issue such orders on Diwali, Holi?” Rajasthan BJP leader Dr Satish Poonia said.
The amended order mentioned guaranteeing uninterrupted power supply for ordinary people and guaranteeing water supply during upcoming festivals this month.
Reacting to the remarks made by the BJP, Rajasthan Cabinet Minister Pratap Singh Khachariyawas said, “The BJP engages in lies and deceit. It divides Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs and Christians. People are talking about jobs and the BJP is indulging in these things. .”
